Report of theft clears up further crime
Staff at a town centre shop were commended for quick thinking when they saw a woman walk past their shop apparently wearing a dress which they believed she had stolen the previous day.
The woman had been into the shop the day before and asked for a plastic bag to replace one which had broken. Staff then realised she had walked round the shop putting clothing in it, which she had not paid for.
When they saw the woman walking past the shop the next day staff used the radio to alert CCTV and Kent Police. The CCTV operator was able to locate the woman and direct police to her. She was arrested and when her home was searched other stolen goods were found from other shops.
This is a good example of how the prompt use of the radio solves crime and assists in the prosecution of offenders.
VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN and GIRLS (VAWG)
VAWG is a high level priority for licensed premises. The town operates the "Ask for Angela" scheme which allows females to get help from staff. If a venue has security, they will deal with any persons causing a nuisance towards females.
